MEM 3 example library

This page offers sample visualizations for meteoroid environments encountered along a number of spacecraft trajectories.  We have selected at least one satellite orbiting each of the planets in the inner Solar System as well as the Moon.  Users can select a trajectory by clicking on the links at left.  Trajectories were obtained using the JPL Horizons API. 

Users can recreate our runs using the Meteoroid Engineering Model (MEM) version 3, which is available through the NASA software catalog.  We encourage users to use these runs to examine the input format and/or familiarize themselves with MEM.  Users should consult the MEM user guide for explanations of the input choices and For general guidance on performing runs.  The graphics may be helpful in building a mental picture of the meteoroid environment and learning to anticipate the ways in which it can vary between trajectories.

We do not recommend use of these runs for formal risk assessments.  Users should instead construct a high-resolution trajectory that is specific to their mission.
