Numerous eyewitnesses in California reported seeing a fireball 2019 September 17 at 8:32 PM Pacific Daylight Time (2019 September 18 3:32 UTC). An analysis of the reports and a couple of geolocated dashcam videos posted on YouTube and Facebook indicate that the meteor - travelling at a speed of 34,000 miles per hour - began to ablate at an altitude of 59 miles above the town of Ventucopa. Moving to the northwest, the fireball traversed 40 miles through the atmosphere before completely disintegrating 29 miles above some hills located south of California Valley Airport.
