Last evening on May 28, 2020 at 9:24 PM Central Daylight Time (2020 May 29 02:24 UTC), many eyewitnesses in the states of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Missouri reported seeing a bright fireball. An analysis of the accounts, constrained by videos from two EarthCams (located on top of the Dallas Reunion Tower and on Route 66 West), indicate that the meteor (about the brightness of a quarter Moon) was first sighted 55 miles above the Ouachita Mountains in western Arkansas, moving to the southeast at 47,000 miles per hour. The object ablated 41 miles above the town of Midway, after traversing 76 miles through the upper atmosphere.
