Many eyewitnesses in the Los Angeles area reported seeing a fireball June 9, 2020 at 8:34 PM Pacific Daylight Time (2020 June 10 3:34 UTC). Analysis of the data provided by the more experienced observers places the beginning of the fireball 50 miles above the California coast near Port Hueneme, heading southwest, out over the Pacific Ocean. The object, moving at 54,000 miles per hour, traversed 36 miles before disintegrating 31 miles above the water, about 17 miles south of Smuggler's Cove on Santa Cruz Island. Two videos of this event have surfaced on YouTube.
