On June 10, 2020 at 8:51 PM Pacific Daylight Time (2020 June 11 3:51 UTC), many eyewitnesses in the San Francisco Bay area of California reported seeing a bright meteor. Calculations based on their reports, compared to a recording made by an EarthCam at Lake Tahoe, give the starting location of the fireball at 54 miles above Butte City, travelling slightly north of west at a speed of 45,000 miles per hour. The object ablated 28 miles above Thunderhill Raceway Park, making its path through Earth's upper atmosphere 32 miles long.
