Event: 20210312-004700


There are numerous reports from the upper Midwest of a bright meteor seen on March 11, 2021 at 6:47 PM Central Standard Time (2021 March 12 00:47 UTC). Analysis of these reports gives a start point of the meteor at 47 miles (76 kilometers) above the town of Brodhead, Wisconsin. It moved northeast at 28,500 miles per hour (12.7 kilometers per second), traveling 40 miles before burning up 27 miles (43 kilometers) above the town of Cambridge. One video of the entire event has surfaced, taken by an EarthCam in St. Joseph, Michigan. There is also a video showing the beginning of the meteor taken by rooftop camera at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. These were used to constrain the meteor speed and start points.
