Over 100 eyewitness reports have been posted on the American Meteor Society website concerning a bright fireball observed at 1:52 AM Eastern Daylight Time on July 22, 2022 (2022 July 22 5:52 UTC). Analysis of these reports combined with position and duration constraints from publicly accessible videos of the event indicate that the meteor was first sighted 46 miles above the Indiana town of New Ross (located northwest of Indianapolis), moving to the northeast at 24,000 miles per hour. It disintegrated 25 miles above Michigantown, having travelled over 42 miles through the upper atmosphere.
