Roughly 50 eyewitnesses reported a fireball over southwestern Pennsylvania on February 22, 2023 at 8:09 pm EST (23 February 2023 01:09 UTC). The event was also recorded by a meteor camera in Pittsburgh belonging to the NASA All Sky Fireball Network. Analysis of the eyewitness accounts and the video data indicates that the fireball was first seen 52 miles above the town of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. It traveled slightly west of south for 35 miles at a speed of 45,000 mph, before disintegrating 32 miles above Mt Morris, just north of the Pennsylvania-West Virginia state line.
