Over 70 eyewitnesses in the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont reported seeing a fireball on March 11, 2023 at around 8:02 PM Eastern Standard Time (2023 March 12 1:02 UTC). An analysis of their accounts places the first sighting of the meteor 53 miles above Oscawana Lake in New York, moving a bit south of east at 51,000 miles per hour. It traveled 46 miles through the upper atmosphere before disintegrating 34 miles above the city of Milford in Connecticut.
