There are numerous eyewitness reports posted on the American Meteor Society website regarding a bright meteor observed April 6, 2023 at 8:44 PM Eastern Daylight Time (2023 April 7 00:44 UTC). The fireball was also observed by a NASA meteor camera located at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and an Earthcam at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. An analysis of the visual and video data shows that the meteor was first sighted 50 miles above the Atlantic, moving north of west at 39,000 miles per hour. It traveled 43 miles through the atmosphere before disintegrating 30 miles above the ocean, approximately 38 miles from Jacksonville Beach.
