Event: 20230915-045314

Numerous eyewitnesses in the states of Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin have filed reports with the American Meteor Society concerning a fireball observed last evening (September 14) at 23:54 PM Central Daylight Time. An analysis of these accounts has been combined with information from two publicly accessible cameras to generate a trajectory. Based on the data, the meteor was first sighted 52 miles above the Iowa town of Bradford, moving slightly north of east at 45,000 miles per hour. It travelled 34 miles through the upper atmosphere before disintegrating 34 miles above the Turkey River near Eldorado. Given the high fragmentation height, it is not likely meteorites were produced by this event.
