Many eyewitnesses in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio have filed reports on the American Meteor Society website of a bright fireball seen over Indiana at 11:35 PM Eastern Daylight Time last night (September 21). An analysis of the available data indicates that the meteor was first sighted 51 miles above the Indiana town of Worthington, moving to the northwest at 43,000 miles per hour. It disintegrated 32 miles above Terre Haute, having traveled 39 miles through the atmosphere in just over 3 seconds.
