Over one hundred eyewitnesses in the states of California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington have filed reports on the American Meteor Society website of a bright fireball seen on the night of September 23 at 10:47 pm Pacific Daylight Time. An analysis of these accounts shows that the meteor was first sighted at an altitude of 53 miles above the Oregon town of Clearwater, moving to the northwest at 50,000 miles per hour. It disintegrated 34 miles above Bohemia Mountain, after having traveled some 37 miles through the upper atmosphere. This meteor was not associated with any currently active meteor shower.
