Many eyewitnesses in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Rhode Island have filed reports on the American Meteor Society website of a bright fireball seen Monday, June 2 at 8:08 PM Eastern Daylight Time (June 3 at 00:08 UTC). An analysis of these accounts shows that the meteor first became visible at an altitude of 50 miles above Hanover, Massachusetts. Moving east of south at 39,000 miles per hour, the object managed to travel 26 miles through the upper atmosphere before disintegrating 31 miles above Plymouth. This fireball was not associated with any currently active meteor shower.
